Vessel Variations - Oct 7-Nov 4

This group show features the work of eight artists who exhibit a variety of approaches to the making of the vessel. Peekskill Studio Director Jessica Dubin selected three pieces from my Tattoo Series, a series of simple vessels emulate objects found in ancient burials. Dotted sgrafitto patterns on the surface of these forms are repeated on the wall. These punctuated arrangements were inspired by an archaeologist’s drawings that map the surface symbology found on the vessel’s exterior.  Travels to Azerbaijan (2006 and 2008), the exotic crossroads of the Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian Sea, provided inspiration for the Tattoo Series.

Embroidered Memorial Update

I would like to share the current on the progress on Embroidered Memorial. After a visit to the Czech Republic this year, I’ve not only made more progress in the sewing of the pieces but I now can put faces and stories to the names on this cloth. Please visit Recent Works and read more about this piece.
